Description:

Fallout and its sequel were probably two of the greatest RPGs of the late 90s. Freedom of choice combined with amazingly involving storylines delivered in a smooth easy-to-understand package were hallmarks of those two games, and it's a bit daunting to step into those shoes especially if you're making the third game in the sequence. Bethesda may be no Black Isle but it still manages to deliver an incredible game experience. The game engine is built from scratch, though there are some familiar names and faces like the PiPBoy 3000 and the Vault-Tec mascot Vault Boy that have prominent places in the visuals. Everything just runs so smoothly and the graphics help a lot, too. Smooth combat is often the bane of the genre, but Bethesda obviously learned a thing or two making its other RPG franchise, Oblivion, and applied everything here. An engaging mix of real-time and turn-based, it still retains that touch of its predecessors. Combine this with the trademark free-form quest progression and the karma system, you've got yourself a winning mix for making the third Fallout. That's not all – downloadable content is on the way to enhance the experience even more and add a lot more replay value to the game. This is a definite steal for the price.
