Lara Croft is back and she's better than ever. Tomb Raider Underworld is the latest game in the Tomb Raider franchise and it is definitely a stunning piece of work. Coming out on multiple consoles, this baby manages to take advantage of all the next-generation technology has to offer. The graphics are stunning – the backgrounds are just bursting with color and Lara is as mouth-watering as ever. A lot of people may buy this for eye-candy but the game also offers some pretty good game play in the bundle. The Tomb Raider series has always been about combining good old action with old-fashioned puzzle solving – the unique mix of action/adventure styles has been a winning combination for this series for more than a decade and it hasn't changed in this outing. Though Underworld may not need the puzzle-solving chops that were required for the other games in the series, it still manages to give your brain a respectable run for its money. The problem is the controls are a bit wonky, though it's still light years ahead of the ultra-sensitivity of early outings, it just needs a little tune-up though; the auto-aim, on the other hand, is great and helps out a lot with combat. The game is a good buy for any fan of the series and it's good enough to deserve a rent out for a slow night.
